God’s Eternal Decrees
As we have already established God is entirely sovereign and truthful, in all and by all His attributes.
In light of this we believe that God has eternally declared His benevolent design, which He Himself will without a shadow of doubt bring to fulfillment, using all and everything to this end.
From eternity past, God has established by His perfect will and has ordained without the possibility of variation His divine plan ACTS 17:26. All He has preordained will come to pass, but as we have already begun to see God is not the author nor the creator nor the promoter of sin and evil. No violence at all is made to the choices and decisions of man, not violence is made to man’s liberty and will to serve his own sinful nature, no violence is made, rather the will and liberty are recognized and pre- established ACTS 15:18. For many, and there are many, who accuse God of being unjust because He does not stop evil every time and permits or allows that evil happens; know that evil, sickness, and death are consequences of a humanity and a world controlled by sin and which lays in the arms of the wicked one 1 JOHN 5:19 and only by his own will and desire they act. The human body for example is subjected for these reasons to get sick and to die, sin corrupts it all the more making it all the more subject to sicknesses and eventually death. It is sin that causes the body to become ill and in the end to die. God does not always stop evil or sickness, why? Because God lets man receive the consequences of his own actions and desires.
An example, if a person smokes they definitely risk to become ill and perhaps die as a consequence, this is definitely on the physical level as well as the spiritual one. Then I ask you, why would God stop that person from smoking? The person smokes because it is what the person wants to do, and it is their desire to do so, it finds pleasure in doing it. The same for everything a person desires and likes to do.
Do people know the consequences of their actions? Yes, all know them, it is then useless to blame God if a person gets sick or dies or even if they lack money to get to the end of the month. So, then stop smoking or whatever else you are doing in rebellion to God’s will and maybe you may escape the consequences of your sins, do not blame God, you and you only are to blame. It is this way for every single sinful act of man.
When all goes well, man wants the glory and the credit and does not want to thank God and give Him the credit ROMANS 1:21, but when things do not go well, mankind immediately blames God. However, the problem is, that mankind and unfortunately even many, many believers who do not comprehend Scripture and really do not know God, believe that by nature man is good, some people go to the extreme of calling mankind innocent. Except for those who cognitively cannot understand their sinfulness, and actually even they are in reality not innocent at all. ALL HUMAN BEINGS ARE GUILTY AND COMPLETELY CORRUPT BEFORE GOD ROMANS 3:10-19;ROMANS 3:23.
These in addition erroneously think that man has true liberty in choosing either to do good or to choose God’s ways. Man by nature is completely enslaved by sin and is a slave of the devil ROMANS 6:16-17, and are sons of God’s wrath EPHESIANS 2:1-3, the desires of the devil they want to do, this was said plainly by Jesus in description of all those who do not belong to God and are not of God
John 8:41-47 You do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father–God.” 42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 47 He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”
If we start with the premise that man is good and innocent, then it is obvious why many retain God to be unjust in allowing evil to, seemingly, prevail. In reality, evil does not prevail at all, because God limits it and controls it, how and when He wants it to be JOB 1:12;JOB 2:6. God IS JUST and He will remedy all injustice, He will judge and will make justice in this world and in eternity, on this we can be certain. There is always a reason for what occurs and if God allows it, it means that in the end He will be in full control of every situation even if by man’s eyes this is not seen and often appears opposite. If it was not this way God would not be sovereign, neither could He be Omnipotent and Omniscient (see Declarations on the Attributes of God). The fact is that God is these and He controls and is sovereign over evil as well, however, He uses it for His ends, He transforms it in blessings GENESIS 50:20He limits it but allows it to exist, because evil and sin is what the natural man, the sinner really desires to do and by consequence man reaps what he sows, judgment and the consequences he deserves, EZEKIEL 15:7-8;1 PETER 3:12. God does not then always violate human decisions, which are the tendency to always choose against God ans His ways, so that God leaves man to reap the harvest of his desires and sins GALATIANS 6:7-8
We then believe that God knows all that happens from all eternity, but that He has not decreed anything strictly and only in base of His prescience in base of the human decisions and choices. His righteous judgment is declared, but not only because of the consequences of what men want and desire to do; rather, for example, we DO NOT BELIEVE that God has decreed and preordained some to salvation on the fact that He in His prescience has seen in the future those who would have believed the message of the Gospel, and based upon the prescience of these decisions Has predestined those to salvation, Absolutely Not! This would presuppose that man within himself naturally has something that could generate belief in the Gospel, in other words that man inherently possesses the faith to believe and has the capacity within himself to activate this faith and to believe with the power of his will. This fact is denied categorically by Scripture, MATTHEW 16:16-17;JOHN 6:37-71;ROMANS 3:10-19. In addition to this if God were obligated to save men on the basis of man’s ability to believe and his decision it would really signify that man is sovereign and not God.
We believe that only and exclusively by the manifestation of His glory and His attributes that are part of the manifestation of His glory, God has predestined or preordained angels and men, some to eternal life and others by consequence, by His passive will, not active will, to eternal damnation (This concept is not at all as said before, a violation of the will and liberty to choose of men),
JOHN 6:37-40;JOHN 6:44-45;JOHN 6:63-66;ACTS 13:48;EPHESIANS 1:3-14;2 THESSALONIANS 2:13-14.
Of these preordained numbers there can be no alteration or change ROMANS 11:25;REVELATION 6:11
We believe that those of the human race who are preordained or predestined by God’s decree to eternal life ACTS 2:39;ACTS 13:48; God has chosen before the foundation of the world MATTHEW 25:34;EPHESIANS 1:3-4;REVELATION 13:8;REVELATION 17:8, this means from all eternity, in agreement with His eternal and immutable purpose and the secret council of His benevolent design and according to His mercy EPHESIANS 1:3-14, He has Himself chosen, for the revelation of His eternal glory and exclusively through His love, grace and mercy and not because of the prescience of any human choice or decision of faith, nor because of any good works or any type of perseverance of the creatures as conditions or causes of His choice ROMANS 9:10-23;1 CORINTHIANS 2:7-14. All to the praise and glory of His grace and mercy.
We also believe that God in His decree of election, for His glory and purpose, His will, grace and mercy only has given all the means to obtain salvation, that He Himself has provided and offered, JAMES 1:18. Even the elect being in nature children of divine wrath because of their sinful nature in Adam EPHESIANS 2:1-3, as all humanity after all, are only redeemed by the work of redemption by Christ Jesus EPHESIANS 2:4-10 by the eternal decree of the Father. The elect are called to faith in Christ and through the Holy Spirit that operates in them, they are justified, adopted, sanctified and preserved in the faith by the power of God through the faith for salvation 1 PETER 1:3-9. No other person is redeemed by Christ, only those who are elected to salvation by God decreed in eternity,
MATTHEW 20:16;MATTHEW 22:14.
We believe that as in Adam all who are born naturally as human are themselves held responsible of their sinful nature, passed on to them by the rebellion of which Adam is responsible ROMANS 3:23; ROMANS 5:12, but in addition to this every man is responsible also and individually for the choices and decisions they take, so in the same way to all who are in Christ, to all the elect, is imputed the responsibility to have chosen and believed the Gospel to have exercised faith in Christ which God demands to be saved and justified even if given by God. In other words, God operates entirely in the life of the elect to salvation but does not take away the responsibility fore the choice of the elect even if it is entirely caused by Him. If salvation was not entirely provided and caused by God even faith then if generated and exercised by man’s human decision and will would be salvation by works and not by grace only, if so man would have something to boast about before God.
We believe that the rest of humanity, God by eternal decree has abandoned ROMANS 1:18-32 to express their “ free will ”, per say, in other words, this will is only free to decide as man can only decide in other words in accord with their sinful nature, to behave and live in rebellion to God. In fact God does not violate the decisions and choices of those who obstinately continue to chose rebellion against Him, those whom He has not elected to salvation. After all the condition and destination of all humanity if left to herself would rightly be eternal damnation and condemnation.
In this case God exercises His choice to allow them to continue on the path already chosen by all men, the way that brings to eternal perdition MATTHEW 7:13-14. After all the fact is that the sinner, all men, cannot and does not want to believe and accept God if he were left to decide for himself. To him then is given by God the responsibility of not wanting to believe and therefore is condemned.
Believe me, God does not condemn anyone who has not already expressed the desire to refuse God and by consequence to be condemned. No one who is “ innocent” would be ever condemned ROMANS 5-1:11;ROMANS 8:1-2, let’s stop then accusing God of being unjust because He has chosen to save some and not others. If it were not like this EVERY ONE, including us would have perished exercising our “free will” to be damned ROMANS 9:29,because it would only be free to chose evil and sin and to remain rebellious to God. So God is exonerated of being unjust, as He permits, without violating the free will and choices of the non elect as He allows them to continue to live exactly as they wish. God would not condemn any person who would not want to chose themselves their own destiny. All of this is done exclusively to express even more His glory, justice, grace and mercy ROMANS 9:10-23
We believe that the doctrine of the mystery of predestination or election which is an eternal decree of God exercised by Him ROMANS 8:28-30, has to be handled with care and caution in the fact that only men who participate fully to the acceptance of God’s perfect will and revealed in His word, who are surrendered in obedience to the same, can with all certainty in their own valid vocation, be assured of their eternal salvation and election 2 CORINTHIANS 13:5;2 PETER 1:10-11.
So that this doctrine will cause the release, contrary to what it has unjustly and erroneously accused to do, humility, praise, thanksgiving, fear of God, admiration, diligence and abundant consolation for all those who in sincerity obey the Gospel; and that instead it will certainly destroy the things it has been unjustly accused to do, by those who do not want to understand and accept it, these things being, any type of spiritual pride and any kind of boasting and merit that in some way can be assigned to man in the work of salvation. We admit that it is not an easy doctrine to understand fully but that undoubtedly is tied to the doctrine of salvation that Jesus JOHN 2:28-71;MATTHEW 13:18:23 and the Apostles have taught and the majority of the church in her history had believed and taught.
For all of you who will stubbornly will continue to believe in the free will of the sinner and accuse God of injustice because in His mercy He decides to intervene and to save a certain number of human beings, who if left to their own free will and their own choices and decisions would certainly be damned, for those of you who insist in believing that Gos is unjust because He permits evil to exist, I will give you a word of advice, but not me, I will allow the word of God will stimulate your mind and heart, inviting you to come to the knowledge of how in truth God operates and reveals Himself in His word. God is the God who reveals to be, not the God we want to create in our own mind because we want Him to be the way we want. We are playing on the door step of idolatry. BEWARE!
Romans 9:10-24 And not only this, but when Rebecca also had conceived by one man, even by our father Isaac 11(for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), 12 it was said to her, “The older shall serve the younger.” 13 As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” 14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not! 15 For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” 16 So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.” 18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens. 19 You will say to me then, “Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?” 20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, “Why have you made me like this?” 21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? 22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
