The Sanctity of Life and Value of Human Life
Having established the foundation on how we must tackle the study of the Word of God to then put it into practice, we will see what God requires from the believer in regard to the sanctity of life and the importance of the family in accordance with His Word. The study of these subjects will be divided in two parts:
The First Part Will explain the importance to God of the sanctity of life. This has to be the base upon which every believer begins to renew his/her mind as far as the word of God is concerned to see how God really sees human life and its sanctity, this is fundamental to understand well the second part of our study.
The Second Part will explain the importance of the family in God’s eyes. This will then develop into a practical Bible teaching regarding the development especially of the Christian family and its relationship to God and the church.
First Part: The Sanctity and the Value of Human Life in God’s Eyes
Why is the sanctity of Human life of immense importance to God? Why does it have to be of immense importance to us?
Genesis 1:26-31 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
From this passage that describes the very beginning of creation, we begin to understand the importance and the value of the human being and the very distinction that God placed between mankind and the rest of creation. We see that after God created man He claimed that all He created now was very good. This confirms that man is the crown of God’s creation and it demonstrates also that at that time man was good.
The main aspects that are tied in to the sanctity of life are these:
Obviously, from the text we read we can see that man is the only created being which is superior to all the rest of created beings described because to man was given the direct connection with God and His deity, things that other creatures do not have. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Man and woman are the only living beings to whom God has given intellect, reasoning and to whom He has given a spirit and soul. So mankind was created as a natural being, in other words from the earth, but created by God to be a spiritual and eternal being. The human being is naturally, in his flesh, in his body a terrestrial being similar but not the same as the other beings created by God. Having a spirit and soul man is different from the other creatures.
1 Corinthians 15:39-41 All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fish, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.
The ONLY BEING of whom God declared to have created in His own image and likeness.
That mankind is a superior kind of being to the others is evident by the fact that God blessed man and has given dominion upon all other creatures and was given the decree to subdue the earth. Let us not forget that before man would fall into sin all creation was good, very good and God’s ordinance would have been performed to His liking and done well, not as we see this done today, mankind instead of having dominion and subduing the earth is abusing and dominating all of God’s creation as we should know that the world and therefore man lay in the hands of the wicked one 1 JOHN 5:19. However, this subject of being created in the image and likeness of God has to be studied more deeply.
What does it mean to be created in the image and likeness of God? As we have already seen mankind is the most precious creature in God’s eyes because mankind reflects certain divine characteristics that have been deposited in him although now these characteristics are contaminated and completely corrupted by sin.
The human being has inside him the revelation that he is created by God and demonstrates this openly in his/her being.
Romans 1:18-20 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Romans 2:14-15 for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them.
Mankind is a spiritual being as well as an earthly being. Man has intellect, reasoning, intelligence and creativity and is also a moral creature, now completely corrupted by sin, yet a being created in the image of God who has a conscience. In other words, God’s law written in the inner being, knowing when it does wrong or right even when not aware of God’s written law. No other earthly creature has these characteristics. Another characteristic of mankind that is corrupted by sin is that man is spiritual and created as an eternal being. The corruption of sin brings man to commit idolatry and to be a religious being, but this is also evidence that man is aware of God’s existence and that he/she seeks to relate to the supernatural and spiritual.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
Acts 17:24-28 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with mans’ hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28 for in Him we live and move and have our being,
God has directly and personally created man forming them with His own hands and then breathing His life in them. The soul and the spirit are the proof of how important human beings are to God, as they are uniquely created this way, differently from all the other creatures who do not have all these characteristics in them, intellect, soul, spirit, conscience and morality. The only creatures fashioned personally by God’s hands.
Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.
The second distinct characteristic of mankind we see in the creation account is the difference of sexual identity between man and woman. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
It is for this very reason that marriage is of utmost importance and sanctity for God. It is an institution God Himself created to bring about the blessing and the formation of the family, since it is the family we will be studying , so we find here the connection. Fundamentally, the basis for the family is this aspect, and it is for this reason that marriage is inseparably tied together to the sanctity of life and the family.
Adam, the name itself means from the earth. Eve instead means mother of the living, she is called woman which in Hebrew means from man. She was fashioned directly by the hands of God also, differently than Adam, for she was fashioned from Adam’s rib so that woman is a direct part of man.
Genesis 2:20-24 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him. 21 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.“ 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
This beautiful passage makes us understand how a woman is an intimate and integral part of a man and also man of a woman 1 CORINTHIANS 11:9-12.
Both complete each other even though having well defined different roles, of which we will talk about in the second part of our study.
This reinforces also how much the man and the woman are in soul and spirit tied to the image and likeness of God.
In fact, for this reason divorce is an affront and a violation to the sanctity of human life, as divorce rips and divides that which God has united together, two persons who created in the image and likeness of God form ONE flesh
MATTHEW 19:3-9. The two also form a spiritual union that unites them to God in spirit 1 CORINTHIANS 6:17.
Divorce is a very serious offense always but is exclusively serious when it occurs amongst believers.
Believers are, although still having the law of sin active in their flesh ROMANS 7:1-25, spiritually regenerated, recreated in Christ and taken back to the original spiritual state, in other words, the spiritual state before the fall into sin.
Divorce destroys the family, the family is a unit planned by God, woe to those who want to destroy it. For this reason God says He hates divorce MALACHI 2:14-16.
For the very same reason homosexuality is an insult and an offense and a violation to the sanctity of life, because it offends and perverts the order and roles in which God created man and woman. Let’s remember that both are created in the image and likeness of God, but with precise and different roles and positions in the order of God’s creation. This order and these roles sadly have been corrupted and depraved by sin. God created them male and female.
In addition, homosexuality offends and distorts the image and likeness of God in which man and woman have been created. For these reasons homosexuality is an abomination for God. It is also important to establish that homosexuality is a completely unnatural act, it is a perverted act that in no possible way can ever be coherent in obedience to the declarations and mandates and decrees that God made to man and woman at creation, in other words, “Be fruitful and multiply.”
God’s mandate to be fruitful and multiply can only occur if there is a man and a woman. It is therefore evident from this that there is no possible way that a person is born a homosexual.
God considers this a very grievous sin, a sin that is tied to idolatry ROMANS 1:24-28 and that God condemns in His Word LEVITICUS 18:22;LEVITICUS 20:13; 1 CORINTHIANS 6:9;1 TIMOTHY 1:10.
It is for this very reason that gay families, which are unfortunately well accepted in society today and even in many “churches”, are not families at all and cannot ever function in the original order and design of God. In fact, God does not consider them families at all because it is obvious from His word that family for God is formed by a husband and a wife, of opposite sexes, in other words male and female.
Only and exclusively them and the fruit of their marriage and love is and can be considered family. For God the right union and family is by a monogamous and heterosexual union and relationship.
Let’s take a littlr deeper look at the sin of homosexuality and how itis seena nd considered biblicall and what are its destructive consequences upon the family and society.
So, it is clearly evident that God created mankind, male and female. Two different sexes that cannot continue to exist if they do not unite together within their sexual distinctions and differences with which God created them. Only from the biological and natural context, if the human race would unite itself in homosexual relations only, then the human race would soon come to extinction, so the homosexual relationship is not natural, it is totally against nature.
In this Genesis passage we also clearly understand other things as well. Fore instance, the fact that God has created mankind male and female is connected with the fact that God created them in His image and likeness, this also means that He created them coherent with His will and function, His order and design. So for this fact only, a person CANNOT BE BORN HOMOSEXUAL.
Now many will argue, and are still arguing that this is not so, that being homosexual is a genetic factor, one is born genetically predisposed to be a homosexual. This is not at all true. Genetically perhaps a below one percentage of people may be born with sexual anomalies that can cause sexual dysfunctions, but that is too small a percentage to justify the increasing amount of homosexuality in our society. No, homosexuality is as Scripture is saying the result of individuals and a society that rejects God.
The homosexual gene does not exist, science disproves it completely, homosexuality as described in this passage is a vile passion caused by the abandonment of God to the impure and wicked desires of men and women that commit idolatry.
Homosexuality is completely against nature, because as we see, in nature God created mankind male and female, designed by God to have a heterosexual and monogamous relationship within the confines of matrimony only.
Genesis 2:18-20 And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19 Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.
This also proves that man is not at all evolved from another animal such an ape, no God already had created all animals but non of them was comparable, was not of the same kind so much so that God had to create man a companion who did not evolve from another animal like creature but was created directly from the man himself. No other creature is comparable to man as no other creature is made in the image and likeness of God. But let’s remain in context and leave the subject of creation versus evolution for another time.
Genesis 2:21-24 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.” 24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
It becomes obvious then, that when man rejects God and worships and serves the creature, including the worship and servitude to himself, then he will reject the order of creation that God has established, he will reject the image and likeness of God, in fact in the context of evolution, man has denied and rejected the image and likeness of God by rejecting God and creation and has substituted them with the creature in its place. Obvious really. Rejecting the creator, His image and likeness is rejected. With this, the order with which God has created everything, as well as the relation between man and woman is also rejected.
Only the woman is the convenient helper for the man and only a man and a woman can become one flesh.
Let’s take a look at a passage we fnd in
Romans 1:18-28 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man–and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
In fact homosexuality is inexorably connected with idolatry. So,when a homosexual rightfully but not truthfully declares that homosexual behavior is not mentioned in the ten commandments directly he is partially right, it is not directly mentioned as one of the ten commandments as a sexual violation, but first of all it is a sexual perversion and a sin and an unnaturalact, but it really has to be categorized belonging in the commandments against idolatry.
Homosexuality is a direct consequence of idolatry as it is in itself an act of idolatry besides being a sexual perversion.
Yes, Paul continues to describe this theme from the divine standpoint, telling us that homosexual acts are indecent acts that man commits with each other. Unnatural and indecent acts, so this way God describes them to be. Our antichrist society not only accepts and tolerates this abominable behavior but now it exalts it and forces it upon every member of society, doing so it becomes tyranny, a mandatory obligation comparing these indecent and unnatural acts to racism.
It is not at all as racism, it’s not the same thing. Racism is hating someone because they are born with a different color skin than ours or because they come from a different country than ours. Homosexuals let me repeat what the word of God says, are not at all born that way. They’ve become that way through a process of idolatry and sinfulness. Yes, as in all other unrighteousness there could have been present other mitigating circumstances in the life of the persons that commit them, however the Bible is clear
Homosexuality is a perverse desire that dominates a person that abandons itself to it and because the person itself is abandoned to this behavior by God
Homosexuals contradict themselves first by saying that they are born that way, then they claim that they have the right of choice in the lifestyle they want to live.
Or you are born that way and by consequence you would have to live that way, you would not have a choice, or you choose that lifestyle, you choose to be a homosexual, you desire to be one. You cannot be both, and in fact they are not-
Homosexuals are persons who are abandoned by God to their own perverse desires as we have read in Scripture, they abandon themselves to their own vile passion and impure desires. Otherwise there could not exist people who previously were heterosexual and that after became homosexuals and vice-versa, because this happens more often than we want to admit it. So how can we explain bi-sexual people? Are they born that way? If you are born in a certain way you remain as you are born, you cannot change.
If a person is born black they remain black, they do not have the option to change color of their skin?
Jeremiah 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Then may you also do good who are accustomed to do evil.
So then it would be the same for the homosexuals if they were born that way, the Bible however fully contradicts this satanic lie.
You see this is one of those arguments that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God a fortress that entrenches itself around people’s minds, this is a type of unrighteousness and ungodliness with which man suppresses God’s truth.
The Bible shows us instead that homosexuality is simply sinfulness that a person can be delivered from, when they become a new creature in Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
We do have to specify one very important thing however, the true believer will not hate nor commit violence or insult the homosexual as a human being, this is contrary to God, the true believer does not have to, must not, accept the behavior of the homosexual, remembering that this is a behavior that for God is sin and such it must be called and as such it must be condemned, but we must not hate the person.
Calling such persons to repentance and pointing out their sinfulness is not hate nor racism. Not accepting or tolerating homosexual behavior and calling it what God calls it, sin, is not hate, discrimination or racism, it is instead demonstrating the love of God, Who wants to deliver and change the person making them new creatures in Christ.
I have personally known two persons a man and a woman who were homosexuals, when they became born again they became heterosexual beings, the man got married with a woman and they now have two children and he serves the Lord full time. The woman, who now is gone to be with the Lord, even she, after her conversion got married with a man and lived as a heterosexual person.
There are many stories of homosexuals who after becoming born again that have become heterosexual, they are happy, thing that before they were not from their own testimony.
We have just read by Paul’s words that even in his times the new birth of people transformed lives and people were not as they were before. This could not, would not happen if a person was naturally born homosexual, they would remain such always, there would be no need to change if it was a natural thing, if God created them that way.
Also how can we explain those who were heterosexual and now have abandoned themselves to their vile passions and indecent act and chose to become homosexual, or even bi-sexual, this cannot be possible if they were born heterosexual, the certainly chose to practice that perversion.
Society instead tells us that is we do not accept the homosexual behavior as normal it means that we do not accept the person and so we commit discrimination and we demonstrate hate. Excuse me, if we use this concept and this principle it means that we can make the same argument for a murderer or a serial killer or a rapist? I do not think so, all of these including homosexuality are sinful acts before God.
In society however, we want to be selective in choosing the sins we want to tolerate and accept, but for God they’re all serious sins and vile passions and indecent acts. God sees homosexuality as perversion, an abominable practice that can be associated with bestiality, such is abominable to God [Leviticus 18:22-23]. It is so abominable that God destroyed two entire cities predominantly as a consequence of the sin of homosexuality [Genesis 18:20];[Genesis 19:1-25].
In fact not by chance that from the name Sodom that the word sodomite comes from, word that is attributed ti those who practice homosexuality [1 Kings 14:24]. In antiquity sodomites were males who would prostitute themselves with other men and who were part of the pagan idolatrous rituals of those times. It is not by chance that we see the homosexuality even back then inexorably connected with idolatrous practices. The pagans continuously abandoned themselves to these indecent acts and vile passions that God always hated and condemned.
So without the shadow of a doubt this perversion called homosexuality is not a natural thing, we have seen in fact it is completely unnatural and against the order God has given in nature, in His creation. We have seen that it is a consequence of God giving up idolaters to the desires of their own wicked, unclean and darkened hearts and minds, and to the indecent acts of the human being that rejects God, both men and women.
Paul tells us they receive in themselves the penalty of their error that is due to them. What does this really mean?
The first thing we have to understand and remember is that God’s righteous judgment and wrath that is revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness and ungodliness of man who suppress the truth of God with unrighteousness, right?
We have seen that God has already twice abandoned idolatrous mankind to the consequences of their sinful and ungodly behavior. This second abandonment is demonstrated in the homosexual behavior, not all abandon themselves to this, however many idolaters do, especially today.
As a consequence of the abandonment to this sin, those who practice it receive in themselves the penalty of their erring way, this is God’s judgment, he gives them up to the consequences of their sinful behavior.
These consequences are, as Paul describes them in Romans 1:27, the penalty of their error, they receive them in themselves.
Inside of them, in their own bodies, these consequences are first of physical nature, then certainly spiritual consequences. Inside them this sin corrodes physically and spiritually, it corrodes like an acid and their bodies not only burn with vile passions, but literally as their passions burn, they also are physically consumed, corroded by their own sin, that slowly kills them.
Scientific statistics, not Biblical statistics, which are drawn from a health magazine in the article called Homosexuality and Health declares this:
In regard to homosexuality, the homosexual population has a significant greater number of disease than the heterosexual population.
One of the reasons why this happens is the greater amount of sexual activity with a higher number of partners. Statistics reveal that the practice of sodomy, in other words anal sex, is a great source of many diseases.
In 2004 an article on Web Md declared that men who are sexually active with other men are the greater cause for the transmission of the HIV virus in women.
This is a medical list of diseases and the connections to problems of physical nature in the homosexual population.
CMV- Cyto Megalo Virus- very serious infection that causes many serious problems and can cause death.
MRSA- A new variety of staphylococcus bacteria that is a cause of infections in homosexuals.
Syphilis and Gonorrhea
Lymphogranuloma Venereus– A serious intestinal parasite caused by sodomy.
Other Intestinal Parasites
Proctitus- Inflammation of the rectum that increases the risk of contracting AIDS. I
Illicit Drug Use
Obesity in Lesbianism
So we see that science confirms and agrees with the Bible. Yes, those who practice these indecent acts and vile passions receive in themselves, in their own bodies the just penalty for their behavior, no one can mock God, all that a man sows he shall also reap.
Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
In fact, God commanded Adam and Eve “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it” this means that God favors human reproduction. Yes, because this is an act of pro-creation, in other words, man and woman become partners with God in the creation process of other human beings. Pro-creation then is not exclusively a human act, but it is an act that man shares with God, rather God shares with man. This act cannot be separated from God nor from how God has originally intended it to be. Pro-creation occurs through a relationship of love and physical union between husband and wife, exclusively a husband and a wife, male and female. This is really the ONLY and ORIGINAL design of God. Any other type of pro-creative method as far as what I understand from Scripture and from God is sinful because it is not done within the original design and order of God. Many scientific methods used today are in violation of God’s perfect will and His creative design and order. God, however, allows that man does all he does, because God often allows that mankind go ahead in his rebellious decisions. After all, why should God stop him? Man wants to live independently and in rebellion to God so God lets him. However, rest assured that man will have to live with the consequences of his actions, consequences that will bring about the wrath and judgment of God, man will reap what he sows GALATIANS 6:7-8.
However, the subject of the sanctity of life and of the family and pro-creation is very important for the growth of Christian families where God wants to reproduce not only human beings but other Christians, other disciples. Although it is not always true that all children in a Christian family become believers; there is, however, a much greater possibility that they will. The conversion and the growth in the faith of children born in a Christian family is much more frequent than that in a heathen family and many statistics confirm this fact.
This is especially true in the families who truly train and bring up their children in a life of obedience to the Word of God and who live biblically not compromising their life and faith with the ideologies and philosophies of the world, parents who do not compromise with nor tolerate sin. Because the church is also the family of God, all this is then true for the Christian family as well as it is for the church. Paul, in fact, gives us example of this in
1 Timothy 3:4-6 one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence 5(for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?)
However, another grave, depraved and corrupted act against the sanctity of life together with divorce and homosexuality is murder and obstruction of life in any form, stage or phase of human life.
Job 1:20-21 Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head, and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, And naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
God gives and God takes, God adds and God subtracts, let’s allow God to do this and not us. Only God has the right to give life and to take it. Only God has the right to decide when a human being is born and when he dies. These are not decisions that a man can take by his own will because they are rebellion, idolatry and offenses to the sovereignty and perfect will of God and the sanctity of life.
This subject has to be expanded a bit. I believe that it needs to be well understood especially by us believers. Unfortunately, it is a subject that is very misunderstood in the Christian community. Probably it is a subject that is even more misunderstood than divorce and homosexuality. That which a believer believes in regard to this subject is connected to many errors that bring many believers to sin against God and violate the sanctity of life.
That murder is a very, very grievous act for God is immediately seen in Scripture only two chapters after the creation of mankind and his fall into sin. Once again in Genesis, when Cain killed Abel.
Genesis 4:8-11 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. 9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” 10 And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground. 11 So now you are cursed from the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.
Innocent human blood that is shed has a voice and it cries out to the LORD. Innocent blood shed by murder pollutes the earth, the land upon which it is shed. This causes a curse that is not only tied to whom commits it but also the land falls under a curse. Innocent blood has a voice and God hears it, and He Himself is ready to vindicate it and execute justice upon who shed it. Murder was the first fruit of man’s rebellion against God. God is a God who is life, gives life and celebrates life, physical and spiritual life. Satan is a murderer from the beginning JOHN 8:44, he hates all that God loves, Satan is he who steals, kills and destroys JOHN 10:10. Satan is the opposite of God, he wants to destroy life, physical and spiritual life.
Genesis 9:1-7 So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. I have given you all things, even as the green herbs. 4 But you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood. 5 Surely for your lifeblood I will demand a reckoning; from the hand of every beast I will require it, and from the hand of man. From the hand of every man’s brother I will require the life of man.
6 “Whoever sheds man’s blood, By man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man. 7 And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”
After the flood we see that for the very situation the world was in once more, Noah and his family as well as Adam and Eve before them were blessed by God and commanded to be fruitful and to multiply, this means that to be fruitful and multiply is a blessing of God and not a curse as today many believe it to be. Unfortunately, even many in the church believe that being fruitful and multiplying is a curse rather than a blessing. Certainly it has never been easy raising children, and perhaps today it is even harder than ever; however, this does not change the fact that having children is a blessing from God PSALMS 127:1-5 no matter how hard it may be to raise them. God commands Noah and his sons to be fruitful and to multiply and fill the earth. In this passage of Genesis 9 there is a repetition of this commandment even after God gives Noah and also all of us a lesson on the sanctity of life.
God explains the reason for which human life is not only precious but so important to Him, so much so, that He will render justice for the shed blood of human life. God also established an institution of human justice for the shedding of human blood. This is called death penalty and it is not to be considered murder or vengeance, but rather a justice system established by God. We will speak a little about this subject further ahead in our study because it is important to understand it.
God informs us of why all this is of primary importance to Him. Once again He repeats it, God has made man in His image and likeness.
(Also, in this passage we see where the Lord tells Noah that everything that moves upon the earth will serve as food to mankind. This is a very important statement and a change from before the flood as man was a vegetarian, see GENESIS 1:29. Now God says that man can use animal meat as a source of nutrition. Let’s be very careful then of those who want to force the hand saying that God desires that mankind be vegetarian, this is also denied by the NT. We can eat all foods, everything, with thanksgiving to God 1 TIMOTHY 4:1 -5 ).
However, there are many passages of Scripture where God shows us how grave and serious murder is. Since there are many I will try to cite only a few just to give an idea of what God thinks in regard to murder.
Let’s remember that as far as His moral principles God is always the same, yesterday, today and forever and He does not change. In other words, His declared truth in His eternal decrees remains for eternity and does not change. What God hated in the OT He hates in the NT and today. That which was sin then, is sin today. God does not compromise nor change His moral stand as it is part of His holy character. This means that God will not change His mind about sin. If society accepts and tolerates immoral behavior and sin it does not at all mean that God accepts them and tolerates them. We have to realize that if we think otherwise, we must not be conformed to the ways of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind ROMANS 12:1-2, to arrive to have the mind of Christ and not continue to have our own willful thoughts. We need to arrive to see and believe things the way God sees them and to think as He thinks CORINTHIANS 10:3-5.
Having said this let’s take a look at what God thinks about murder EXODUS 20:13.
Numbers 35:30-34 Whoever kills a person, the murderer shall be put to death on the testimony of witnesses; but one witness is not sufficient testimony against a person for the death penalty. 31 Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall surely be put to death. 32 And you shall take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may return to dwell in the land before the death of the priest. 33 So you shall not pollute the land where you are; for blood defiles the land, and no atonement can be made for the land, for the blood that is shed on it, except by the blood of him who shed it. 34 Therefore do not defile the land which you inhabit, in the midst of which I dwell; for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.’
This principle delineated in this passage is valid for us today as it was for Noah and Moses and the children of Israel back then. Where today the church exists, there dwells the LORD, right? Yes! At least I hope so. However, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. If murder is still a sin (and it is), and if we are the temple of God today (and we are) this passage is valid for us today. The LORD dwells in the midst of His church and the shed blood as the LORD says defiles the land where it spilled. Only through the shed blood of the one who is guilty of murder it will be atoned for and forgiven by God.
It is, however, obvious that the church IS NOT the instrument of human justice. However, now I will blow the mind of most believers. The church has to be pro-death penalty to be biblical, because this is the form of justice that God has chosen GENESIS 9:1-6; ROMANS 13:1-4. Therefore, even if we do not like the method, and like it we should not, the believer however should support God’s ways without of course forgetting mercy and calling the murderers to repentance and forgiveness through the Gospel, PROVERBS 28:13, because God does not find delight in the death of the wicked EZEKIEL 33:11. It breaks His heart having to judge but His justice demands it. God has provided mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ, and Christ is God’s justice for those who put their faith in Him ROMANS 3:21-26, but if man rejects Christ there is left nothing else but God’s justice in the form of judgment and wrath HEBREWS 10:26-33, nevertheless God is not happy to execute it.
There are some in the churches that erroneously teach that Jesus’ sacrifice covers the shedding of innocent blood in a general sense. They say that now the grace of God in Jesus’ sacrifice atones for the blood guilt of murder. This is not at all true. Jesus’ blood atones, cancels, covers, the sins of the individuals who by faith believe in Him and repent from their sins. The blood of Jesus does not at all give any grace or any generic or general forgiveness for the shedding of innocent blood through murder.
Nations and individuals will be judged by God for the unjust acts they commit and that they permit their inhabitants to commit. This we will see further ahead in the next passages we will read. You can bet on it, God will never justify or acquit murder or any murderer or sinner for that matter who personally will not repent EXODUS 34:6-7; LUKE 13:1-5. In addition, if man will not execute justice upon the guilty rest assured God will.
We also have to understand that in the OT, in the law that God gave to Moses, in the description of all the types of animal sacrifice that Israel had to offer to God for the forgiveness of sin and atonement, there were many kinds of sacrifices for all the sins committed. These sacrifices when offered to God would cover up till Jesus came, the sins of the individuals who offered the sacrifice and the collective sins of the nation of Israel. However, as we have read in the precedent passage of NUMBERS 35:30-35, there is absolutely NO SACRIFICE that could atone for the pollution of the land that shed blood causes, if not by the death penalty for the person who committed it, in other words his blood has to be shed.
At this point there is a subject that comes to the light and that is not of little importance. In the light of the sanctity of human life then, is the death penalty an admissible and biblical system of justice still today? As believers on what side should we be on? We did already mention it, if we sustain biblical principles and rules we need to be on God’s side and it becomes painfully evident that the death penalty is an authorized system of justice, not only it is commanded by God; only for voluntary, first degree, premeditated murder as Scripture teaches.
This is the only form of justice that God accepts in that case, the death penalty for the murderer. Therefore, since all the sacrifices of the OT in the law of God given to Moses and to Israel symbolized Christ’s sacrifice and work of atonement that He fulfilled on the cross; for this very reason, since there was a sacrifice accepted by God for all sins except this one, it then means that even today after Christ’s atonement this rule has to be applied. Jesus’ sacrifice, therefore, does not at all cover, forgive or atone for murder unless the person who commits it repents believing in Jesus. In this case the sin of murder is forgiven the person who commits it but the consequences for the act remain and we do not know them. Only God has the right to regulate the consequences of the person’s actions and, believe me, it is He who has to decide. It is not to be taken for granted that if God forgives the sin He will also completely take away the consequences. The forgiveness of one’s sins do not always take away the consequences of the sins one commits see 2 SAMUEL 12:7-14. Not every murderer, however, repents. In fact, very few do. So God’s form of justice has to continue, however…
For every murder and every drop of innocent blood that is shed which is not brought to justice by the authorities, God himself will do it and in the end the whole nation will incur divine judgment because the land is contaminated and polluted by the blood that is shed upon it and justice has to be rendered. As we did mention, if the person who commits murder converts and repents or not that is another thing. However, if the guilty of the crime is condemned to the death penalty, they will endure the consequences of their actions but his/her soul will be saved. Or do you think that God prefers that a murderer that does not convert and repent stays alive physically but when he/she dies goes to hell, or a converted repented murderer is condemned to die physically but when he/she dies their soul will be saved? Do you think God prefers that an entire nation would be judged and incur His wrath because of the blood guilt or that the individual guilty parties are brought to justice? Do you still think the death penalty is an unjust penalty? This form of justice as we have seen was established by God in GENESIS 9:1-6, it is justice not vengeance, nor is it cruelty, it is a just retribution for the act that was committed. This is what eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, life for life means. In other words, if an eye is damaged by someone, one eye is the just retribution to make restitution, if for one eye we take two it is not justice it is an injustice. If for one tooth we take two or more than one it is not justice, one tooth for one tooth and so on, but even when we render less than what was done it is also injustice. What can we ask then as justice for a person who without impunity takes a life? Their own life, more we cannot ask, but neither can we demand less. Let’s be careful though, the life penalty, for example, in the case of murder as we explained is a reduced form of justice; and in fact, it is no justice at all in a case of first degree and premeditated murder. God has declared that only through the death penalty of the murderer justice is rendered and atonement is made for the blood guilt, pollution of the land and the execution of God’s wrath.
The fact is that the human being is declared by God created in His own image and likeness even after man’s fall into sin and even before the law was given to Moses. God declares the human being created in His image and likeness so that the life of a person is precious to Him. Therefore, life has to be precious to us all. All human beings are precious to God.
God makes clear that even before the revelation of His law to Moses, the shedding of innocent blood has no form of atonement, nothing can atone for blood guilt over the nation in which it is committed except by the life of the one who shed it. This principle is not exclusively tied to the OT or the Mosaic Law. It is an eternal decree of God, a declaration that is valid until the world exists. In the law God gave better detail and instruction and clarified the rules about the principles of this form of justice. The death penalty has never been abrogated or eliminated in the NT, God has not changed His mind nor His ways, He established before the law and declared in GENESIS 9:1-6 . However, man can refuse to exercise justice in the form of the death penalty, after all man has the choice to do as he wants and in his choice eventually almost without fail rebels against God’s will and law. However, this will leave no choice for God but to do justice by Himself, not only upon the direct guilty parties but upon the guilty nations and governments that avoid to bring to Godly justice the guilty as the Bible teaches us. As we see in the NT, neither Jesus nor the Apostles have removed or abrogated this kind of justice upon the murderers, to the contrary MATTHEW 26:52; ROMANS 13:1-4.
Not wanting to bring the murderer to justice in the right way, even giving them the possibility to repent and be saved spiritually is a form of false mercy and tolerance. False mercy that is in reality injustice that leads to a curse. Man in his foolishness thinks that he can be more merciful and gracious than God and favors the justification of murder, favoring the murderer over justice and giving back the murderer’s life when God expects the guilty party to be brought to His justice. This is a wrong form of mercy; in fact, it is not mercy at all. It is injustice that God WILL punish, punish the one who committed the crime and punish who exercises false mercy and tolerance toward the guilty in place of justice. The innocent blood for which justice is not rendered will cry out to God and God will hear it and will bring justice, you can be sure of it. In fact, the authorities are not called to have mercy rather to exercise true justice according to God’s law. God is merciful, righteous and just, but the authorities’ job is to execute justice the way it has to be executed, God will be the one who will exercise mercy on whom He will ROMANS 9:15, if we truly believe that God is sovereign. If you do not believe that God is sovereign, He is so the same. We need to stop trying to do God’s work for Him and occupy ourselves to do what we have to do as God wants, He will do the rest.
Leviticus 18:25-29 For the land is defiled; therefore I visit the punishment of its iniquity upon it, and the land vomits out its inhabitants. 26 You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations, either any of your own nation or any stranger who dwells among you 27(for all these abominations the men of the land have done, who were before you, and thus the land is defiled), 28 lest the land vomit you out also when you defile it, as it vomited out the nations that were before you.
Today we live in nations and are governed by governments who do not want to exercise true justice and do not want to bring the guilty to justice the way they should. Rather they pass laws which give rights to people to murder human beings that are not at all criminally guilty. For example, the fact of not having been born yet and not being wanted and eliminated through the murder of abortion for the unborn, or euthanasia for the terminally and chronically ill.
This brings us to see that a life no matter if unborn, fragile, ill, old or handicapped is precious to God. Only He has the right to give and take life. You will say then, that for this very principle, we do not have the right to practice the death penalty on a murderer. No, it is not at all the same. You then still have not understood that the death penalty is justice upon a guilty person which is not only authorized but commanded directly by God. Through the right methods and channels of human justice, not vigilante style vengeance, we not only have the right to exercise the death penalty we have the duty toward God and society to render this kind of justice. In fact, we see that society and governments deceive themselves into thinking they are merciful for this very reason. How can you consider yourself merciful when you execute the innocent and spare the guilty? It’s a diabolical deception.
There is one who wants to eliminate the death penalty for murderers. Excuse me there is one, however, who wants to eliminate the death penalty for the innocent before you can even consider to eliminate the death penalty for the guilty. This, however, is the sad reality and evidence that we live in a society that is contrary to how it should be. We now live in a society where animals have more rights and protection than human beings, this is pure folly! See ISAIAH 5:20-24.
This brings us to look at a murderous practice that is very much in vogue today. Murder that not only is not at all condemned and the guilty are not brought to justice by the governments, but is instead decriminalized, legalized and treated as a human right. This type of murder practice is not new, rather very ancient, the only difference is that the devil has changed its name, he has changed strategy of how it is performed and has rendered it a normal phase of human life disguising it as a human right. This evil murderous practice is called abortion and it is an abomination to God.
We are now speaking of the MURDEROUS practice called ABORTION.
There are different phases or types of this murderous practice called abortion. This murder is practiced by the medical community and is executed in several ways. There is the chemical way and the surgical way, this last one has been and still is the preferred method that is used in most cases.
To see how this murderous practice is executed we will first examine the clinical aspect and then we will make the necessary spiritual and theological connections to it. The chemical phases are divided in two, the first is through the pill, the regular contraceptive pill, and the second method, that is fairly new is through a pill that induces an abortion after conception. This is a chemical abortion that kills the baby in the womb, which later on is expelled dead. This poison has a name, it is known as RU-486. For your information, this poison is produced by a company whose origins are nefarious, it is the same company that in WWII produced Zyclon B, which was the chemical poison used by the Nazis in their concentration camp gas chambers. How ironic, isn’t it? What a tradition. RU-486 by the way has already caused many deaths, not only of the babies it is used against, but also amongst the mothers who make use of it. It just goes to show you that God does still judge murderers even when society’s justice does not and that as always, the wages of sin is death, God is not mocked, man will reap what man’s sows GALATIANS 6:7-8.
The majority of people and, unfortunately, even believers in their ignorance do not realize for example that 99% of contraceptives in pill form are not pills that simply prevent conception, rather pills that destroy a life already in progress. These are pills that induce the abortion of an already inseminated egg which is impeded to attach itself to the mother’s uterus so it can survive, such causing its death. Many believers use contraceptives like these and they should know that in using them they are sinning against God, this is abortion and it is murder.
Today even science confirms that life begins at the moment of conception. This means that when the egg is inseminated, human life has already begun and the human being has begun its formation. The cessation of a human life even in this embryonic stage, if voluntarily interrupted is murder. In accordance with God’s Word and His principles and commandments, this practice is premeditated, voluntary first degree murder. Therefore, through contraceptives, through abortive pill or through surgical abortion that occurs after the 40th day after conception, all this is murder and it’s sin before God.
Why is this important? It’s important because the human heart beat already exists in the fetus at the twenty first day, twenty one days is always before any woman realizes to be pregnant and life is in the blood according to Scripture LEVITICUS 17:11. Therefore, an independent heart from the mother is beating and pumping blood, this is an individual human life. We understand then that for how precocious the formation of human life might be the procedure called abortion is murder. Can someone stop a beating heart purposefully and call it a human right? No, God calls it murder.
As far as the surgical murder of abortion, this also always occurs after the 40th day since conception in many cases especially in the USA, even up to the ninth month. So even if life really began after the heart begins to beat, first of all, before the woman knows to be pregnant the human being already lives. When you abort after the 40th day the baby is wholly developed, very tiny but fully formed.
What can we call these procedures? Human rights or premeditated, voluntary, first degree murders of innocent people? Who gives the little human being his human rights? The little innocent being is condemned to death by his own parents. The parents together with the governments who legalize and allow these murders and the doctors who perform them, are the prosecutors, the judges, the jury and the executioners. The little human being is the defendant, he or she is innocent of any crime, however they are denied a legal defense and are condemned to the death penalty without possibility of acquittal, without objections nor any type of legal defense. This happens in a society that considers itself civilized, emancipated and merciful, in this society such murderous practice is considered a human right, but if any one tried to do this to a real murderer we would be accused of being unjust Nazis. If we do this to an innocent human being, this injustice is heralded as a human right. For God it is unrighteousness, and it is nothing else but the murder of an innocent human being whose blood cries out to God for justice.
Parents, governments and doctors do not hear the silent cries of the little innocent human being when it is ripped apart in the mother’s womb, but God hears it and He will render justice when man does not. Yes, when man commits unjust acts and man does not render justice for them, God Himself will. Believe me, it would be so much better if man rendered justice because when God does it many do not like the way He does it, many then have the audacity of accusing God of being unjust when He judges. Fools! We live in a world that really thinks and acts contrary to how it should.
If a person kills a child that is already born or one who still has to come into the world what difference is there? Do you think that the location of the child determines his or her humanity and rights? For God absolutely not. For God the importance and the sanctity of life exists even before a person is conceived and born. God knows intimately every human being even before their conception.
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
We see two profound truths taught us by the Word of God. The first one is that it is God who personally forms us in our mother’s womb, and the second one that God knows us intimately, as He knew intimately the prophet Jeremiah and had already ordained him to his ministry before he was born. In fact, the word in Hebrew for “I knew you” used in this passage is the word “yaada”, same word used in GENESIS 4:1 where it is used about Adam knowing Eve in reference to their intimate sexual relationship. The significance and meaning of this in the passage in Jeremiah is beautiful because it indicated that God already knows us intimately and profoundly like no one else knows us, just as a husband knows a wife and a wife a husband, like no other person does, so God knows us in such a way that not even ourselves can know and all this already before our conception. Every human being is already created in God’s mind. This is an ulterior confirmation that God is ours the very own environment in which a person exists Acts 17:28 For in Him we live, we move and have our being.
These truths are well confirmed and beautifully explained in Psalm 139:13-16
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
This is a passage of Scripture that destroys every philosophy that thinks and in any way tries to say that a human being yet not born but that already exists in the womb is not a real human being, living and precious to the LORD. This passage exalts the sovereignty of God. Woe to the man who dares to destroy what God has created.
This brings us next to compare the ancient OT practice amongst the pagan nations of child sacrifice to the false god Moloch, also known in Moab as Chemosh or god of fire also called Baal, and abortion today.
Jeremiah 32:35 And they built the high places of Baal which are in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come into My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.’
The people of God adopted the pagan abomination of child sacrifice and their children were sacrificed in the valley of Tophet.
Jeremiah 7:30-31 “For the children of Judah have done evil in My sight,” says the LORD. “They have set their abominations in the house which is called by My name, to pollute it. 31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.
These passages show us that if it were possible, in God’s heart and mind such abomination could never enter; and in fact, it did not. It is only because God has knowledge of all things that He possibly sees it, but this is a practice that the mind and heart of God completely rejects, it is an abomination.
The false god Moloch was made of bronze, with a human body and the head of a bull, he had his arms stretched out forward to receive in them the human sacrifices. A fiery furnace was lit underneath the stretched out arms upon which hands were placed the infants who was then made to fall into the fire beneath. During this ceremony the priests would begin to play giant drums called tofiym, hence the name Tophet; these drums were played so that the cries of the infants would not be heard. Does it remind you of the silent cry of the babies killed in the womb? Yes, same principle. If the parents heard the cries perhaps they would change their mind and have mercy on their children. In Moloch’s temple bones of the sacrificed children would be used to perform magic arts. The god Moloch was a prosperity god and so the children were sacrificed to receive prosperity blessings from the devil. This ancient practice has much in common, actually all in common with the reasons for which people murder their children by abortion today.
This barbaric system used in antiquity would never be accepted today so the devil changed its method and made it acceptable for the greater part of society. The devil was able to do this by making the church compromise to silence, inactivity and even sin, as eventually even the church started partaking in this sin. When you know to do good and do not do it, that is sin.
James 4:17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
How is this is happening today? Is it really the same thing that was happening in the OT times? Yes, it is absolutely the same thing. Abortion today is the same practice as the infant sacrifices of then. I will give you a brief summary of how the devil has rendered abortion, as well as many other sinful practices which are attached to it, to be accepted in society and in the culture in which we live today.
As I have mentioned the devil wanted to continue this abominable practice against the sanctity of life, to destroy the image and likeness of God in man, to destroy the family and also because the shed blood through murder has an occult and supernatural power which gives the devil and his minions the power to act where it is shed, such as in nations, countries, cities, families and individuals. Without speaking of the fact that Satan has been doing this and is doing it to prepare the world for the coming of antichrist. However, to continue this abomination he could have never been able to make it practice as it was back in the OT days. The devil had to plan a much more sophisticated strategy, a plan and a strategy that has at its base and principle exactly the same as the ancient method.
The devil in our days used desires which he knew he could manipulate. Which you will ask? The same ones he used in the beginning, in GENESIS 3:1-6. In the same way he chose the more susceptible vehicle to his temptations. I am sorry to say it, the woman. Rest assured women, however, it was not all your fault and through a few he was able to tempt into rebellion even man. After all, hadn’t it been the same in the beginning? Satan tempted the woman with the same temptation and the same system with which he did then. Eve fell into the temptation and tempted Adam, Adam listened to Eve and disobeyed God. So it has been again, the devil played the same card today, manipulating the sinful nature and desire of the woman, the desire to rule over man. Not only the desire to be equal to the man in all things but to be above him and usurp all the roles that God had given to man in the beginning GENESIS 3:16. I have to say that man has abdicated the responsibilities and roles that God had given him and has and still today wants to rule the woman with abuse, harshness and cruelty.
Satan in his shrewdness has manipulated the sinful and rebellious desires of men and women and has devised this plan. So in light of how man had been treating woman, I am in agreement that for some things the position of women in society had to improve, but it did not really improve rather it has become extreme which was Satan’s desire.
He was able to convince a group of women, that initially was really the minority, to believe that what women were, in other words, wives, mothers, homemakers and caretakers of the family was slavery, from which slavery they had to absolutely be freed. The devil was able to do this through his lies as he always does, making empty and false promises, promising things but delivering the opposite of what is promised. Satan is a liar and does not keep his promises. His promises are a smokescreen for his lies. In fact, the results of Satan’s promises turn out being the opposite of what he promises. He promised women liberty but delivered slavery, making women slaves to things far worse than those they wanted liberty from.
The same result of the original temptation and sin occurred – slavery, total slavery to him and his ways JOHN 8:34-36. No, do not be deceived, only Jesus can give true liberty from the slavery of sinful behavior, the sinful behavior of man and woman. Rights and laws help a little, but they do not at all eliminate the problem, they are like band-aids on cancer. Woman’s Lib did not bring liberty and freedom at all, it has enslaved women, men and society all the more. Laws and rights can be good, but it’s like with racism, did all the laws that passed eliminate racism? No, they did not. Because racism, such as abuse against women, is a sinful behavior and human laws cannot eliminate them. In fact, all this has given women and men all the more attrition and enmity.
Yes, only by being born-again and being in Christ and being obedient to His Word can render women and men truly free, free to be what God has created them to be, men to love their wives as Christ loves the church and women to be submissive and respectful as God desires them to be. However…
This small group of chosen women, as Eve did, believed the lies of Satan and in the meantime with his favorite system, lies, compromise and continuous nagging harassment, such as Delilah did with Sampson, JUDGES 16:4-18 was able to convince other women and society; and yes, in the end even the majority of the church, that for women to be freed from the slavery of being a wife, of the house and of motherhood, they had to be and do all that man is and does. Only this way the woman’s life would have been free, satisfied and emancipated.
For a brief time society, man and the church had a very weak opposition to his new woman’s call to rebellion. Slowly, however, between a compromise and another, between a right and another, some rights needed, however, the woman and consequentially the devil won out. Yes, because the devil is the master of compromise, he mixes truth with error, he mixes right with wrong; this is his favorite strategy. Doing this the devil is able to make people compromise and therefore to bring total corruption, this is the result that he wants to obtain. He knows that if he presents totally unrighteous and wrong things people perhaps would not accept them, although this is clearly changing today. Case in point, he is the master of the gradual compromise that leads to complete corruption. He is patient to wait as he knows this method works.
Well, the devil has won this battle. God allowed him this victory, yes, because from the day in which he planted the seed of rebellion in the woman’s ear, as he did with Eve, rebellion against the roles designed and assigned by God in the family, in society and in the church, he was able to overturn completely the order of family, society and church. The woman now freed from the yoke of “slavery” of the family and the home began to flood the workplace and career world. No one here wants to in any way downplay the ability, intelligence and know-how of women. However, the effect of this liberation-rebellion of women has devastated the entire world. The gradual incremental compromises and the diabolic seductions have worked to perfection.
With each passing year women threw themselves more and more in the career world and the workplace and less and less into the family, so began the destruction of family and gradually of society. Through the many reasons, this one also is the cause of the chaos we experience in the world’s economy.
Unemployment is up? Sure, if before the greater percentage of jobs and careers were performed by men and would have been sufficient, how many more jobs do you think need to be created to place women in the workplace?
The economy once based on a single salary is now consequently based on two because of the woman working full time and seeking career. Often even today two salaries are not enough, this is because of greediness, lust, desire of prosperity and selfishness drives the world.
For this reason alone there are so many more people seeking work and the work is not enough. If only the majority of men worked and the women returned to the roles and work God has assigned them to do, in other words being wives, mothers and homemakers how many jobs would become available? This is not an economic issue only, in fact…
Do you still think families would be as destroyed as they are today? I believe not. Families would still actually exist, they would be whole and stronger. Children would once again have both parents in the roles God gave them and consequentially they would be raised by the parents not by people in day care centers, in other words by strangers, that no matter how qualified and good they are, cannot take the place of the mother. These are places by the way, where in many cases our children receive abuse. Our children need their parents not day care centers, not after school programs and not even their grandparents, they need mom and dad. I guarantee you that divorce would not be so prevalent as it is today, marriage would be much more respected and honored, abortion would not be an accepted practice, it would almost be non-existent; and homosexuality would still be in the closet, less accepted and eventually less practiced than it is today.
The elderly in the families would be taken care of with dignity, love and respect as they once enjoyed instead of being left to rot forgotten in nursing homes or perhaps left to fend for themselves alone in their own home. Rest assured that the issue of the elderly will be Satan’s launch pad for his next death project, legalized euthanasia which will be at first presented as voluntary and then made mandatory.
When college, career, work, pleasure, prosperity, power, status, become what a woman (and a man) want more than any other thing, everything else obviously has to become less and less important and is forgotten. At this point everything can be, no, has to be sacrificed to obtain the goal of prosperity, while the importance and the integrity of the family is destroyed.
It is really for all these things mentioned that abortion for the last 37 years has become the human sacrifice that mirrors the OT child sacrifice system, that was and still is an abomination to God. It is still practiced today as it was then because the woman and the man have other desires and priorities in their life, not the one of being a family. What desires and priorities? Pleasure, prosperity and well being, the quality of the personal and individual life, power, status and position, in other words selfishness in its purest form, pure hedonism.
Definition of Hedonism: Moral conception that identifies good with sensual and immediate pleasure.
They say: “We cannot start a family it costs too much, it is too great a sacrifice.”
Sure! First you believed the lie of the devil who promised you liberty and freedom as well as prosperity and well being. However, now that he made it ever so difficult to obtain, one thing is certain you have to sacrifice something, what? The family, your children are your human sacrifices to the false gods of prosperity. Nothing really changed from those ancient times.
You see Satan did not tell you that always pursuing and wanting more pushes you to never have enough and to work more and longer to obtain less and less.
James 4:1-4 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
You want sexual freedom, you want the career, you want prosperity and personal pleasure? Human sacrifice is demanded and it has to be made some how. When things get done God’s way everything works out better, when things get done the devil’s way everything is destroyed. All that God has created and designed the devil wants to destroy. If God created and designed specific roles, if God created and designed the family, it is obvious that the devil wants to destroy them in every possible way.
Did you know that the prevalence and the increase of abuse amongst women and children, which was something that woman’s lib said would diminish and eventually end has increased five times since? There are some alarming statistics on women and children being abused today, in the home and outside the home even more. God never justified nor condoned nor does He justify or condone this abuse. You thought all this situation was going to get better with the liberation of women? No, it has worsened because Satan is a liar and he never keeps his promises. Women are exploited and abused sexually in the work place more than they ever were before, they are exploited sexually in pornography and many other ways where women have been turned into sexual icons and objects, but you call this liberation? Look at advertisement industry and tell me what you see. Women left the safe place of the home and entered into a dangerous world that was not designed for them to enter into. Women in the military, in the police force, women fire fighters, are they not capable? Sure, but do they belong there? No they do not. Am I saying women should not work at all? No, there are many ways a woman could work and still make her children and the family the priority. In most cases full time work for a woman is not the right thing and careers for women are detrimental to family life.
Abortion, divorce and homosexuality could they possibly be the fruit of the same deception? Yes, they are all originated from the same thing, this whole deception we have been talking about until now. How does homosexuality fit into the feminist agenda and movement? Perhaps you can see divorce and abortion but how does homosexuality fit into it? Well as you have seen all these three things divorce , abortion and homosexuality are all three against the sanctity of life.
How is homosexuality connected? Simple, when the roles God designed and assigned to man and woman are inverted, we gradually have a sexual identity crisis in the family and in society. Women who want to be like men and behave like men slowly lose their femininity and men in the end lose their masculinity as they become ever so passive and abdicate their God-given responsibilities and roles. Society itself then and the missing relationships with parents from childhood and adolescence cause sexual identity crisis. The rampant increase of homosexuality in society today is mostly brought on by the dysfunctional families that are so because they are destroyed by the plague of divorce and the absence of both parents in the life of the children. This also in families where there is no divorce because parents are absent as both work and cannot be the ones who give the right emotional stability and the proper direction to their own offspring. This causes the children to seek for what is missing emotionally from their life in other relationships, such relationships become accepted also through homosexual relationships amongst both sexes. These children find which has been missing in their life in a relationship with any person who is able and willing to give them in some way what they think they emotionally need. This often happens through homosexual relationships as the figure of father or mother is viewed in a negative way from the children and subconsciously instigates rebellion which is manifested through homosexual behavior. Yes, the Bible shows us that this is the destiny and the consequences of a society that rejects God, this is exactly described by the pen of the Apostle Paul in ROMANS 1:18-32, and exactly what is happening.
This is what the devil has been able to create, a society that is opposed to God’s ways and opposite to how God designed it to be and already for quite some time I would say, he has been slowly doing it also in the church. Abortion in addition, together with the other mentioned sins, unfortunately, has become accepted and practiced by believers, if true believers we want to consider them 1 CORINTHIANS 6:9-10. However, this practice is accepted by many so called Evangelical churches.
The LORD had many things to say to His people because not only they accepted child sacrifice as part of their culture, they did not denounce it and did not abolish it, rather they took part in this abominable practice. Like the church is doing today. The LORD not only condemns the practice of this abomination on the part of the pagans but condemns it all the more when His people practice it and when His people tolerate this evil in their presence. God gives the responsibility to this murderous practice and condemns the entire society where it is allowed.
Leviticus 20:1-5 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. 3 I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. 4 And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, 5 then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech.
There are several things God is saying in this passage.
The First Thing: God says whoever of the children of His people (today the church) and those who were strangers in Israel (today non-Christians) that lived in Israel at that time, would be condemned by God for having practiced and accepted this abomination. The justice required for murder as we said was the death of those who would do such a crime. As we have seen by God’s word if a person sheds innocent blood has to be put to death as it is the only way to receive a stay of judgment and remove the curse the land is under.
The Second Thing: This passage says that this practice defiles God’s sanctuary and profanes His holy name, why? Because it is evident that behind these false gods there were and are even today demons. This practice is the worships of demons, Paul confirms this in:
1 Corinthians 10:14-22 Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say. 16 The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread. 18 Observe Israel after the flesh: Are not those who eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? 19 What am I saying then? That an idol is anything, or what is offered to idols is anything? 20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons. 22 Or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?
These demons as their head Satan desire and have pleasure in the misery, ruin and destruction of the human race.
John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; but I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.
John 8:44 You are of your father the devil, and you want do the wishes of your father; he is a murderer from the beginning and he has not remained in the truth, because in him there is no truth. When he speaks lies, he speaks of his own because he is a liar and the father of lies.
Those who practiced and practice these murderous abominations are as the beasts that perish, perfectly devoid of their reason and of their natural affections, this is confirmed in
Romans 1: 18-28 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man–and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. 24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;
We see that the offense against God and the sanctity of life in the sacrificed infants means that they refused, and still today refuse. the image and likeness of God in the human being they chose to destroy and choose to destroy and did not and do not want to accept – sacrificed in the name of prosperity and comfort.
Luke 9:48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this little child in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me receives Him who sent Me. For he who is least among you all will be great.”
Even in despising their own wombs and bodies with which they had produced the baby, they profaned the holy name of God, as we have said the human being is created in the image and likeness of God. An important issue is that to profane God’s name means that when a believer practices or does not denounce this abomination it is open rebellion to God, whose name the church has upon her, the name of the LORD.
Ephesians 3:14-16 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
The people of God that carry His name that live in rebellion to Him profane and blaspheme the name of the LORD ISAIAH 1:10-17.
To defile God’s temple, first of all for the believer today means when one defiles his or her body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Also because instead of worshiping and honoring God in their midst they worship and honor demons. All that is done today. For example, when the crime of abortion is committed and when it is ignored, especially in the church, this defiles God’s temple, the church, each of us.
The Third Thing: of which the LORD makes mention in LEVITICUS 20:1-5 is the fact that even if society and the church do not repent of, condemn, denounce and execute judgment on those who commit such abominations, it will be Him who will execute judgment and justice on the guilty individuals and society who commit such murders. God has done this in the past and continues to do it today. Woe to those who turn aside their eyes from this abomination.
2 Kings 24:1-4 In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his vassal for three years. Then he turned and rebelled against him. 2 And the LORD sent against him raiding bands of Chaldeans, bands of Syrians, bands of Moabites, and bands of the people of Ammon; He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken by His servants the prophets. 3 Surely at the commandment of the LORD this came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, 4 and also because of the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, which the LORD would not pardon.
It is really a terrifying and preoccupying thing, a thing to fear, to know that there is a certain point when God will not pardon. We have to see that in the context we are talking about the fact that amongst the sins of Manasseh, it was because of the amount of shed blood that filled Jerusalem that the LORD did not want to pardon. As we have seen before, when there is no repentance, denouncing and justice rendered about the shedding of innocent blood, the LORD Himself will judge those responsible and even the subsequent generations.
Ezekiel 22:1-13 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 “Now, son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Yes, show her all her abominations! 3 Then say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “The city sheds blood in her own midst, that her time may come; and she makes idols within herself to defile herself. 4 You have become guilty by the blood which you have shed, and have defiled yourself with the idols which you have made. You have caused your days to draw near, and have come to the end of your years; therefore I have made you a reproach to the nations, and a mockery to all countries. 5 Those near and those far from you will mock you as infamous and full of tumult. 6 “Look, the princes of Israel: each one has used his power to shed blood in you. 7 In you they have made light of father and mother; in your midst they have oppressed the stranger; in you they have mistreated the fatherless and the widow. 8 You have despised My holy things and profaned My Sabbaths. 9 In you are men who slander to cause bloodshed; in you are those who eat on the mountains; in your midst they commit lewdness. 10 In you men uncover their fathers’ nakedness; in you they violate women who are set apart during their impurity. 11 One commits abomination with his neighbor’s wife; another lewdly defiles his daughter-in-law; and another in you violates his sister, his father’s daughter. 12 In you they take bribes to shed blood; you take usury and increase; you have made profit from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me,” says the Lord GOD. 13 “Behold, therefore, I beat My fists at the dishonest profit which you have made, and at the bloodshed which has been in your midst.
There is no doubt that abortion today is the same abomination that these ancient pagan sacrifices were then and God will treat them exactly in the same way He did then.
Ezekiel 35:6 therefore as surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, I will give you over to bloodshed and it will pursue you. Since you did not hate bloodshed, bloodshed will pursue you.
The bloodshed for which justice is not rendered, accumulates and it pollutes the land on which it is shed. Like a magnet which attracts metal, so is bloodshed for which justice is not executed, it will attract more blood and bloodshed by murder, as more and more blood is shed and will pursue and follow who sheds it. When justice is not promptly and justly executed man’s heart is evermore encouraged to do wickedly.
Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Murder begets murder, bloodshed begets bloodshed. Since the death penalty has been abolished have the murders decreased, including abortion? No, they have not, they increased and continue to increase. The statistics confirm these facts. When justice is not executed by man, God will execute it through His righteous judgment poured out upon the nations that permit murders to go unpunished the way He desires.
What is the church’s responsibility in regard to this abominable murder practice called abortion and murder in general?
Simple, the word of God is clear and we have read it. God does not tolerate this sin and neither should the church tolerate it. The church does not only have to pray against this evil but has to be the institution that fights against this abomination in every way it can. The church is commanded by God as well as Israel was, not to practice it, not to accept it, not to compromise with it and to denounce it at all costs EPHESIANS 5:11. To proclaim the word of God, God’s judgment and the Gospel to those who commit and permit such sins. God does not compromise with murder, read again what it says in LEVITICUS 20:1-5.
God wants that we always side with Him in His righteousness and justice. God wants that we practice justice MICAH 6:8. God calls us always to speak out for who is treated unjustly PSALMS 37:30-31; PSALMS 106:3; ISAIAH 1:17. Often we think that the only work we must do is to proclaim the Gospel, it is. But not only this. It is to be what God calls us to be in the world, executors of His justice. Let me repeat it again it is not the church that has to execute justice upon the guilty, that task belongs to the authorities and if they do not execute true justice, God will. However, we have to be the spokespeople of God. We have to warn the authorities when they are unjust of the consequences of God’s judgment and wrath and we must call all to repentance through the Gospel. We have to make disciples of all nations teaching them what the Lord has taught us MATTHEW 28:19-20.
We are the spokespeople for those who cannot defend themselves.
Proverbs 31:8-9 Open your mouth for the speechless, In the cause of all who are appointed to die. 9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, And plead the cause of the poor and needy.
We cannot turn away our eyes and ignore this insult to the sanctity of life. God commands us and warns us of the serious consequences upon who looks the other way as we have read, but He repeats it so many times.
Proverbs 24:11-12 Deliver those who are drawn toward death, And hold back those stumbling to the slaughter. 12 If you say, “Surely we did not know this,” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?
We must never help ease a murderer’s conscience nor give him any help. The only help we can give is the Gospel and call them to repentance.
Proverbs 28:17 A man who is laden with the guilt of human blood Will be a fugitive until death; let no one support him.
God does not accept that His church compromise with this kind of sin that is an abomination to Him and an insult to the sanctity of life, which is of fundamental importance for God.
However, even knowing all this and understanding it to some degree a person could ask themselves if the human being as a contributor with God in the miracle of the procreation of human life has or not the right to decide for himself whether or not to have children. Up to what point is it permissible by God for a woman and a man to decide if they will have children or not, if the child once conceived will keep living or not. Is it licit to terminate a pregnancy for any reason? Is it OK to obstruct life in any way? Well, we have already understood that it is never alright. Man, however, will rebelliously keep doing what he or she decides to do, what they think is best for them. Most people will do what they want, they will be offended if you try to say that God should be the One that decides for them, not chance, God. The majority of people do not want to do God’s will and they will make their own decisions and choices. This kind of mentality, unfortunately, is prevalent even amongst Christians. Unfortunately, in the human mentality and, sad to say, in much of the believer’s mentality there is that diabolical philosophy that violates the sanctity of life. A number of so called believers also believe that abortion in some cases is a viable solution, therefore not thinking it is sin. However, if it is sin in some cases it is then sin in EVERY case. There is no such thing as selective sin, in other words sometimes it is other times it is not. Sin is sin always and in every case. Same thing with the anti-conceptional pill, as we have seen it is an abortive but most people do not know it. In fact, many Christians use it and think it is alright to use it. Many use many other contraceptive methods to avoid having children or to limit how many children they will have.
This kind of mentality and behavior gives evidence to four things:
The First : It is rebellion to God’s will and His word, stubbornness. In other words, persisting in seeing things and making decisions the way we desire instead of seeing and seeking to decide things in accordance with God’s will and word. Consequentially we behave erroneously, this is the worst thing we can do. How does God view rebellion and stubbornness?
1 Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.
The Second: People, in general, but even worse believers do not think as God thinks in regard to the blessing of having children. Instead they think it is a curse because of the inconveniences, the hardships and difficulties, the sacrifices that come with raising children and having a family. However, the difficulties, the sacrifices and inconveniences have always existed and always will, all this does not take away the fact that children are a blessing from the Lord. In the same way, often difficulties which are presented by believers are nothing but excuses to cover up lack of faith in God and an excuse to justify their own selfishness and lack of sacrificial love. Is the Lord not powerful enough to provide for us and to help us overcome any difficulty?
Ephesians 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
Here follow the three most common excuses heard used to justify not wanting to have children, not only by pagans, unfortunately too often by Christians also.
1) We are not yet ready to have children. What does God think of this? In His wisdom and good and perfect will would God give children when He knows it would not be good? However, when is it a good moment to have children? A believer can think differently from God in regard to their own situation. It very well could be that God gives children to make ready to place their faith in Him to overcome difficulties and hardships and to see God act powerfully in their behalf. After all who better than our Heavenly Father can determine what is best for us? When is a couple ready to have children? If we look for the right moment no one would have children, the perfect moment to have children in life does not exist. We have to trust God and have faith in Him and His promises.
2) Having children or more children would make me crazy. What does the word of God say about this? Let us allow God’s word to speak.
2 Timothy 1:7 God in fact has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind (discipline).
The original Greek word translated from discipline in this passage means a wholesome mind, self-controlled and disciplined mind . To say then that children would make us crazy could be true if God did not give us His Spirit to help us. We can see in this passage that what God gives us through His Spirit. In fact, the Holy Spirit gives us as His fruit things that do not at all support or justify this excuse:
Galatians 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, meekness, self-control.
These are all qualities that are contrary to craziness and impatience. How much more in the life of who has children this fruit should be evident? Certainly children are an instrument in God’s hands to make us grow spiritually and exercise the fruit of the Spirit in our life.
3) We cannot afford to have children or to have more. The first excuse we already looked at and this one are the most common. In any case this one is the most common especially amongst believers. This excuse, however, is first of all the number one reason why people have abortions and in the believer’s case it demonstrates at best a very immature faith, a lack of faith in God’s power, providence and promises. We will see the results of this ahead.
The Third : People do not think that it is not sin to decide in the place of God or that it is permissible in light of circumstances and situations whether or not have children or how many to have. This reasoning is carnal and it is lack of faith, people who reason this way put themselves in the place of God making decisions that belong to God only and not to human beings. No one has any right to terminate a life that God has made neither any right to obstruct creation of life and to decide things only God has the right to decide for our life. This is as saying to God “Get off the throne of my life. In this case I am the lord not You!” Who is the Lord of our whole life, God or us?
God is sovereign and He has to be the Lord in the life and over the life of the believer. Who is it that has the power to open or close the womb? Who has the power to render a woman or a man sterile or fertile? It is God and He does it because He is sovereign and it is He who has the right to do this.
In Scripture this is a very clear exposed fact.
Genesis 29:31 When the LORD saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
Gen 30:2 And Jacob’s anger was aroused against Rachel, and he said, “Am I in the place of God, who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?”
Genesis 30:22 Then God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her and opened her womb.
1 Samuel 1:5-6 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the LORD had closed her womb. 6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the LORD had closed her womb. 7 So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat.
It is not man who has to decide in God’s place, especially a child of God who should trust the wisdom and the power of God in their own life and let God decide how many children He wants to give a family. Even Jacob understood this principle. We know that the unredeemed man, the natural man who is not born again and regenerated by the Spirit of God will persevere in doing what he or she desires to do in rebellion to God, certainly not without serious consequences for their rebellious actions, however, a child of God cannot behave as a rebellious person. The son and daughter of God must do the will of the Father, seek His kingdom and His righteousness, let the Lord of life decide how many children He will gift a family with.
The Fourth: God does not like it when a believer decides whether or not to have children or how many. This behavior demonstrates as we did mention a lack of faith in Him. Can God provide for you and your family? This lack of faith is a sin, sin that the Israelite demonstrated in the wilderness in their 40-year wandering, where they continuously accused God not to be able to provide for their needs. Without faith it is impossible to please God.
Numbers 11:18-23 Then you shall say to the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, and you shall eat meat; for you have wept in the hearing of the LORD, saying, “Who will give us meat to eat? For it was well with us in Egypt.” Therefore the LORD will give you meat, and you shall eat. 19 You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, 20 but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised the LORD who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, “Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?” ‘ ” 21 And Moses said, “The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.’ 22 “Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to provide enough for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?” 23 And the LORD said to Moses, “Has the LORD’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”
Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?‘ 32 “For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Psalms 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.
Psalms 34:8-10 Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! 9 Oh, fear the LORD, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. 10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.
Do we believe in God’s promises or not? Do we have to take matters in our own hand trying to carnally do things sinning against God or should we trust and confide wholly in Him?
In addition, if in churches there are large families who are in need, especially because they have many children, would it not be the responsibility of the church to help these families? If it were necessary for a time, God would want to provide for these families through His church? In fact, God’s word seems to instruct us to do so.
Acts 4:32-35 Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. 34 Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, 35 and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
How many excuses and how much bad advice and bad counseling contrary to God’s word we hear in the church today, all not to want to help families in need because they are large families. You hear reasoning such as, “Well, after all if they stopped having so many children they would get by better.” or “Afterall we cannot continue to help people who live irresponsibly.” You see, those who speak this way are carnal believers and pastors and who think that people who have children are living irresponsibly. God blesses them with children but they call them irresponsible. They are the irresponsible ones, they are disobedient to God’s word as they do not want to lend a hand to help. I have heard these things with my own ears and my eyes have seen even worse. I have seen “pastors” and “women pastors” (a biblically non-existent title) as women cannot be pastors of churches according to the word of God, anyway, these who have counseled women to get abortions. In fact, I have seen a “pastorette” who was nothing else but a wolf in sheep’s clothing who actually brought one of her “sheep” to a clinic to have an abortion and justified it with Scripture. This is folly!!! I have heard “pastors” and “believers” or so they call themselves, who counsel use of contraceptives to other Christians, are we kidding?! This is encouraging to sin!!What Biblical ignorance, what complete lack of faith and spiritual discernment and what a rebellion to God these counsels and decisions are. It is the duty of the church to give real help to the families in need not to incite them to sin. See, when we live in selfishness and we are conformed to the ways of the world even in the church we think erroneously and live in sin. This is why we must be transformed by the renewing of our mind and not live in conformity with the ways of this world.
How did God react when Onan did not want to continue his brother’s family lineage and why.
Genesis 38:8-10 And Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife and marry her, and raise up an heir to your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the heir would not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in to his brother’s wife, that he emitted on the ground, lest he should give an heir to his brother. 10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD; therefore He killed him also.
Onan did several things that displeased God, he despised life and emitted on the ground. In addition, he did not want to continue his brother’s descendant lineage and what rendered his sin all the more abominable was the fact that Onan decided not to want to have a son and in doing so he placed himself in a position to make a carnal and selfish decision whereby he decided in God’s stead. God wanted to bless not only him but his wife and humanity as he would have been a forefather in the genealogy of Messiah. Who are we to resist God and His will? Is it not a sin to act independently from God’s will and purposes? Contraceptives are always a sin and they are also because a man decides in God’s stead while committing murder. Everything that does not come from faith is sin.
Romans 14:23 But he who doubts, if he eats is condemned, because he does not eat with faith; now all that does not come from faith is sin.
In no case must a couple, especially Christians, ever think it is proper to terminate or obstruct life, a thing that only God has the right to do.
God blessed and commanded Adam and Eve to be fruitful and multiply. He did the same with Noah and his sons. This was an obvious decree and commandment due to the fact that the human race had to be replenished. Because of these circumstances some say that this was a commandment valid only for that reason and that time. However, what does God say to His people later on, much later about this?
Deuteronomy 6:1-3 “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you–‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
Do you think He would have changed His mind about this in regard to the church? I do not! The Word of God is clear, our God is absolutely pro-life, without exception, without compromise, without apology, and so should we, who are called by His name.
