WHY KNOW JESUS
Jesus once asked His disciples a question, “Whom do men say that I am?”
This question still echoes through time, through centuries, in fact, through two thousand years since it has been asked. Although the question has been thoroughly answered by Jesus Himself and through Scripture, many still are the answers that men have given in the past and still give today.
The answer you will give, however, is not insignificant at all. There is only one right answer to this question, all others are wrong. Whether you answer rightly or wrongly it will have a very serious effect on your life, your life in this world and your life in eternity.
This question, as harmless at it may seem on the surface, will require instead that you think, meditate and reflect carefully on how you answer it, because your answer will affect the course of your destiny.
Let’s examine some of the answers that His disciples gave Him.
Matthew 16:13-14 When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
Then Jesus asked His disciples this:
Matthew 16:15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Today since Jesus asked that question many answers were given. The Muslims for example, still to this day claim Jesus is only a prophet and not the Son of God. Is that so?
Some today say Jesus was a good man, a good spiritual teacher. Is that so? Was Jesus simply a good man, who taught good things?
Is He just another spiritual guru such as Buddha, Mohammed, Dalai Lama, Gandhi etc?
Is He just another philosopher, another spiritual man who just simply points mankind to choose one of the many ways that lead to an awareness of God?
Did He ever say that ALL ways lead to God, that ALL religions are equal, and that one just needs to choose the one that is right for him or her, because after all they ALL lead to God?
Is Jesus only one of the many ways?
The best way to begin to see who Jesus is or is not, is by confronting all the various answers of the myriads of people who have their own opinions in regard with who did He say He is and is His answer actually the right one?
Before we do this, however, I would like to just take a quick look at the answer Peter gave Him when Jesus asked His disciples the aforementioned question.
Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Well, Peter claimed something particularly profound and perhaps he was wrong about that answer after all. I mean, Jesus the Son of the Living God? Wow! Come on Peter, how can that be? Maybe, you have mistaken. I am sure Jesus must have rebuked him for that answer. After all who can claim to be the Son of the living God? Peter how can you be so narrow-minded? This would mean Jesus has the same nature of God? A man? How can this be? After all there are many ways to God, so the world says, so now come on Peter, God’s Son?
What did Jesus say to Peter? Did He rebuke him?
Matthew 16:17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven”.
What? Blessed is Peter? Jesus, come on, you are calling God Father? Wait a minute, Peter was right? God revealed this to Peter? You mean that God is the only One who can reveal this fact to men? Flesh and blood alone cannot arrive to this conclusion? But wait, how about those like the Jews and the Muslims who claim you cannot be the Son of God, that God has no Son? Can’t they be right? Are they wrong?
But wait, Jesus, who do you say that you are? I mean did you really claim to be the Son of God? Are you the only way to God? Many will say no this cannot be. You are just a prophet, a good man. There are many ways to God, how can anyone claim to be the Son of God?
OK, now, let’s reason about this for a moment.
There are three possibilities about who Jesus is:
1. He is crazy.
2. He is a liar.
3. He is really the Son of God and the only way to God.
If He is crazy it’s because a man who claims to be the Son of God, and is not, has to be ruled crazy even if he believes it sincerely. If you or I go around claiming to be Christ the Son of God they will put us away. But Jesus declared He was the Son of God.
The second possibility is that He is a liar, one who claims to be the Son of God, but knows he is not, he is lying, he would then be a liar and a deceiver.
The third possibility then is that He really is the Son of God, He is therefore who He says He is.
Again, now some will say Jesus is just a good man but he cannot be the Son of God. There is a problem with that, because if Jesus is not the Son of God then He cannot be a good man, because a liar and a deceiver is not a good man by any standard, especially by God’s. In addition, if he was a mad man can he be a good man? Are mad men good? But no mere man is good before God.
When a young rich man went to Jesus to ask Him how to inherit eternal life he addressed Jesus as good teacher. Many today say that Jesus was just a good teacher. What did Jesus answer him?
Luke 18:19 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God.”
Was Jesus denying to be the Son of God here? Was Jesus not good? Well, this is the same problem we see today, if the young man believed that Jesus was just a good teacher and nothing else then Jesus rightly answered him with that question and statement. Jesus really was answering this, “if I am just a teacher then I am not good, only God is good.”
No mere man is good before God. That is, by the way, very bad news for mankind. Jesus then implied that, if instead of simply a good teacher the young man instead recognized Him for who He truly was, the Son of God, then He says to him, “sell all you have give it to the poor and then come follow me”.
So Jesus, even by His own admission, if He were a normal man like any one else could not be good, because only God is good. However, if He is God’s Son, He is good but then He is not just a simple man, He also has to be as God as the Father is God.
But then again who does Jesus say He is?
John 14:4-7 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”
Wow, Jesus says He is the way to God, not just a way but the only way to come to the Father.
He is the truth, not a subjective truth or part of the truth, not that He merely tells the truth, He IS the ABSOLUTE truth.
If He is the truth He cannot lie, that rules Him out from being a liar.
He says He is the life, not that He just can give life but He is life. He says that knowing Him, one knows God.
So He was neither a liar nor was He mad or crazy. He proved being God by doing many miracles and revealing Himself to be a lot more than a mere prophet or a good man or a teacher.
He raised dead people, even a man Lazarus who was already rotting in the tomb. He stopped storms.
He walked on water against a strong storm wind and catching up on foot His disciples’ boat, experienced fishermen after they had been struggling for hours to reach the middle of the lake.
He made the lame walk, the blind see, the deaf hear, the dumb speak. He cast out demons who all acknowledged out loud that He was the Son of God.
He fulfilled in His person hundreds of prophecies of the Old Testament concerning Him, which would be mathematically an impossibility under any normal circumstances.
He was seen revealed in His glory by three of His disciples, He could read peoples’ thoughts and intents of their heart.
The final proof was the fact that He rose from the dead after having been crucified by the Romans. He was seen by over 500 persons all at once, there cannot be a group hallucination of that magnitude. So this was real and He was seen by many for the space of 40 days after His resurrection.
He was actually touched and handled after His resurrection, in other words He was not a vision or a ghost. He actually ate and drank real food and drink. He ascended into heaven before the disciples’ very eyes.
For those of you who claim He was not really dead, let me say this; He sustained multiple beatings by the Roman soldiers, He sustained flogging by the Romans with a whip made of nine leather strips with glass and metal shards on the end of each strip. This type of a flogging normally would kill the person to whom it was given. He had placed on His head twisted branches with two- or three-inch thorns which was then imbedded into His head.
He was crucified on a cross and after that He was pronounced dead by Roman soldiers experts with crucifixions. He was pierced in the chest with a spear to confirm He was dead as blood mixed with water came out of His heart area. This medically indicates that He indeed had died. He died of water build up around the heart and lungs, a sure medical confirmation that He died of congestive heart failure due to asphyxiation. The fact was, that, that was the manner with which people who were crucified died. Rest assured He really physically died, but He did not remain dead. He could not remain dead because you cannot kill Him who is life itself.
He IS indeed the Son of the Living God.
In a court of law today having over 500 eye witnesses who saw a person, touched a person, saw them eat and drink, the same person who had the signs of the crucifixion that He sustained in His body and hands and feet and chest and that nevertheless was not at all mangled up and unrecognizable as the Bible sustains He was when he died, together with the forensic medical and physical evidence of what He sustained, would confirm that to be true. (He could have not ever been just faking His death, how can a body heal from all that abuse in only three days). With all those witnesses to testify and all the evidence presented, the case for Jesus’ resurrection would be without any shadow or reasonable doubt a confirmed event. The jury has reached the verdict, Jesus has risen indeed, He is who He says He is, the Son of the Living God, the Lord of all.
It was, in fact, for that very reason that the Jews had Him crucified, He claimed to be equal to God, indeed He is both man and God.
Let’s look at a couple of those instances where Jesus sustained He was equal to God and the Jews wanted to kill Him for blasphemy.
John 8:54-59 Jesus answered, “If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 55 Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, ‘I do not know Him,’ I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57 Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
Several things about this passage we have to understand. Jesus is claiming He is true and not a liar, He knows God intimately, God is His Father, and God honors Him as His Son.
Abraham believed in Him, in the day of Messiah, by faith. But Jesus was only thirty-three years old and He claimed to have seen Abraham, Jesus in fact responded,
“Truly, truly before Abraham even was born I AM”.
What? Jesus existed before Abraham did? He is claiming eternal existence, self existence and sustenance, from everlasting to everlasting. How can that be? It can be, and the Jews knew exactly what Jesus was saying to them.
He used the Greek term “Ego emi” which is the term in Hebrew I AM, Yahweh, the same thing God declared to Moses in Exodus 3:13-15 the One who IS the ever existing One, the One who was, is and always will be. He claimed to be God. Therefore, they took stones to stone Him for blasphemy.
Another incident where Jesus claims to be God and the Jews wanted to kill Him is found in
John 10:25-33 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.” 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”
So there you have it. The verdict is out, Jesus is the Son of the Living God, a man but also God in the flesh, God who took the form of a man to come and dwell amongst mankind.
We have proof that cannot be argued, with all the evidence and witnesses it takes more faith not to believe than to believe that Jesus is who He says He is. Yet, as Jesus even said, many of you do not believe still.
However, the evidence and the witnesses are unarguable. So why will you not believe?
Because you do not want to believe. I told you in the beginning that who you declare Jesus to be will affect your destiny, and this is a fact.
You see “It is appointed for man to die once and after that the judgment” Hebrews 9:27.
I am sorry for the proponents of re-incarnation but people will not come back as anything. You will die once and will be judged by God one time for all eternity and so will many others with you.
Who do you say that He is?
Is He the Lord and the only savior of mankind and the only way to God ?
Why do you think it is important you arrive to the right conclusion of who Jesus really is? You see, my friend, you have a serious, serious problem, a problem that if not dealt with will actually be fatal for you.
You have a problem, a problem EVERY SINGLE man and woman born into this world has, and it’s a deadly problem. The problem is you, each one of you, are a wicked person before God.
This problem you have, all have, is called SIN, and you, all are a slave to it. That is why you cannot pass up to find out why it is essential that you get to know who Jesus really is.
Oh, I know, now you will probably be offended because I called you wicked before God and a slave to sin. Now you will want to forget reading the rest that is written here because your pride is hurt.
After all, how can I make that statement about you, I do not know you, and I do not really know how good you really are. No, I do not know you at all, but I can tell you still that you are a vile sinner and are deserving of God’s wrath and judgment.
Your good works, whatever they are, will amount to nothing when you stand before God. I can tell you if you continue on the road you’re on, you will go to hell when you die, you will be eternally damned and cast away from God’s presence forever.
Are you really upset now? Do you care now? Do you want to stop reading now because you are offended and hurt in your ego and your pride?
That’s really too bad, because now that I told you the bad news, I wanted also to share with you the good news that God has for you.
If you want to be damned forever, then you can stop reading and continue to be offended. However, your problem will not go away.
I stated before that the problem of being wicked before God and slaves to sin is a problem that every single man and woman born into this world has. So, yes I had that problem also, notice I said had, because now I do not have it anymore. What? Now you will ask, “are you claiming to be perfect and without sin now?”
No, I am not! In reality though I really do not have that problem any longer. How can that be you my ask?
God dealt with it for me once and for all.
Well, first of all I want you to understand that before God there is no one at all who is not guilty, all deserve His judgment and wrath.
You know why this is? Because that is what God declares in His word.
The Bible says that every single person by nature is a son or daughter not of God but of His wrath because every person is dead in their sins,
God declares that, because of Adam and Eve’s rebellion and disobedience which God calls sin, we all have sinned, Romans 5:12.
Every single person is under God’s wrath, judgment, and condemnation because sin has completely corrupted them and the whole world is guilty before God, Romans 3:9-19; and the wages of sin is death, Romans 3:23.
Many instead believe that mankind is essentially good. No, man is completely corrupted in his nature and God does not at all see mankind as good.
By nature we are born rotten, corrupted by sin. Just look at children, the tantrums they throw when they cannot have their way, the rebellion and the disobedience they display right from infancy. Do you have to teach your children to do bad or to do good? If we were good ,we would have to be taught how to do bad if anything. Children, for example, lie. Who taught them? No one.
Sin is from birth in the nature of man and it manifests itself to be so from the very beginning of a person’s life. As you grow up that problem worsens.
Romans 8:5-8 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Now you will say, “Okay I read up until now just to get a kick out of what you are saying; but you see all this really does not concern me at all, I am an atheist. I do not believe in God at all.”
Wow, you’re an atheist. Well then, in that case nothing at all really changes in reality.
First let me say this, just because you, who are a mere man, decide in your mind that God does not exist, does not mean He doesn’t.
Secondly, if you exist, God exists. He created you, it’s the atheists that really do not exist. God exists but atheists do not.
“What?” you will say, ” what do you mean? I am telling you I am an atheist, I know I exist.”
Very well, but first of all you are not an atheist, you are a fool. “What,” you will say, “now you even offend me?”
No, I am not offending you, it is God who calls you a fool.
Psalms 53:1-3 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good. 2 God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. 3 Every one of them has turned aside; They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one.
Atheist as you call yourself, you are fools because God has placed in every single man and woman the knowledge of His existence.
This not only within man, but also in His entire creation. There is an internal witness and an external witness to the existence of God.
This God has done, through nature, Romans 1:18-22 and conscience, Romans 2:15, which is God’s law written in the hearts of men and women, so that man is without excuse.
Because you see, although knowing God you have refused to glorify Him as God and to be thankful, God has abandoned you to receive His judgment Romans 1:18-32, unless you repent, first of your unbelief, secondly of your sinful lifestyle.
Atheist, so you call yourself, you are without excuse before God. You know that God exists. You just choose not to believe that He exists so that you can suffocate the truth with iniquity and unrighteousness and sear your conscience as with a hot iron so that you can go on behaving how you desire and not feel your guilt.
This is why atheists really do not exist. You o man and you o woman know that God exists. It suits you, however, to deceive yourself and try to convince yourself that He does not exist. You try at all costs to bury the knowledge of God that He put inside you with all the unjust things you do, as you think that this way you can also bury your feelings of guilt, your guilty conscience.
Don’t you know that you are accumulating for yourself God’s wrath for the day of your judgment? Oh yes, you know that God exists and that you will have to give an account of your deeds. You know it because God’s word says that you know it.
One day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, even yours. Like it or not you will bow and confess Jesus as Lord, but on your judgment day it will be to late to change your destiny. However, if you change your unbelieving and deceived mind and bow your knees and confess Him as Lord of your life now while you are still in time, you will escape your eternal demise. No, rest assured, you know God exists, you know!
Romans 1:32 They although knowing God’s decrees that those who do such things are deserving of death, not only they do them, but also approve those who do them.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
“Well,” you will say, “I do not steal.” Oh really? Do you cheat on your tax return? Do you cheat, period? Do you pay your taxes, your bills, do you give your employer all the time for which he pays you? If not, that’s stealing. You are a thief in God’s eyes.
“I do not commit adultery,” you say. Oh really? Do you desire another woman besides your wife even though you do not commit the actual sexual act or do you look at pornography? If you do, you’re an adulterer. You see, the philosophy “look but do not touch” is not acceptable and does not work with God.
Do you have sexual relations outside of marriage? Do you live together and are not married? You are fornicators. Are you homosexual? Are you a transsexual? The way you live is sinful and is not the way God has created you. You were not born that way, you are living in sin and not exclusively because of that sin only. Yet, it is sin, an abomination in God’s eyes and you will not inherit the Kingdom of God if you remain in that lifestyle.
Do you get drunk? I’m not saying do you drink a glass of wine once and a while, do you get drunk, even occasionally? You’re a drunk.
Do you covet, in other words desire what others have to the point it makes you envious?
Do you lie? Even if you lie to your children telling them Santa Claus exists? You are liars. You believe and tell your children the lies that man has evolved from apes. You can lie about the truth and you want to tell your children the lie that an old man in a red suit is the meaning of Christmas.
You think in your ignorance that God will not judge you because you tell little white lies, because you lie thinking that you can with a small white lie prevent some greater evil?
You are deceiving yourself as well. No lie is a little white one! Lying for God is always wrong no matter how small or big the lie may be.
Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
1 Timothy 1:9-11 We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for adulterers and perverts, for slave traders and liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine 11 that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God,
“Oh,” you will say now, “I am not a murderer, I never killed anyone”. Oh really? Have you ever hated someone? You are not able to forgive and you are resentful toward someone? You will ask, “what does this have to do with murder?”
To be resentful, unforgiving and hate people in our heart is murder to God. Behavior and actions always start in the mind and heart of people and even if they remain there God knows they’re there, for Him you are guilty. Have you ever committed or supported an abortion? Both men and women are responsible for this voluntary and premeditated murder. Both are responsible for the act and the decision and both responsible for the innocent blood that was shed. Abortion is murder and an abomination in God’s eyes, you are murderers.
You see, if you have broken just one commandment of God’s law, you are lawbreakers and have broken it all and you are guilty.
James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
Do not be deceived, those who live like this WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
So this is the bad news for all of mankind! Oh, but now someone will still insist that this is not so. Well, if you keep thinking this way and you do not change your mind, you will unfortunately find out it’s exactly as God’s word says it is.
Just because you do not believe it, it does not change. God will judge you and you will be found guilty and you will be condemned to eternal damnation. This is a picture from God of the destiny and inheritance of the wicked.
20 “Because he knows no quietness in his heart, He will not save anything he desires.
21 Nothing is left for him to eat; Therefore his well-being will not last.
22 In his self-sufficiency he will be in distress; Every hand of misery will come against him.
23 When he is about to fill his stomach, God will cast on him the fury of His wrath, And will rain it on him while he is eating.
24 He will flee from the iron weapon; A bronze bow will pierce him through.
25 It is drawn, and comes out of the body; Yes, the glittering point comes out of his gall. Terrors come upon him;
26 Total darkness is reserved for his treasures. An unfanned fire will consume him; It shall go ill with him who is left in his tent.
27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity, And the earth will rise up against him.
28 The increase of his house will depart, And his goods will flow away in the day of His wrath.
29 This is the portion from God for a wicked man, The heritage appointed to him by God.”
What a hard God, some will say. A God like this I do not even want to consider. God is love, grace, forgiveness and mercy. Yes, in fact, God is all these things. But God is also holy, righteous, just and pure, and in these attributes He must judge sinners who do not want to believe and repent
Exodus 33:19;Exodus 34:6-7; Romans 9:14-15.
God is not a harsh God, He is not unjust, bad and indifferent, He does not want that all people perish in eternal damnation. No, absolutely, it’s the people themselves who decide to remain rebellious to God and serve their flesh and the devil.
In fact, God is so merciful and in His deep love has chosen that human beings receive salvation from their eternal destiny of damnation. Without God’s intervention it would have been and would be impossible for mankind to receive salvation from its condition and from this fatal destiny.
God by His great love, His immense grace and His mercy toward mankind, has provided for our salvation, He has done everything, we just have to believe and accept that which God says in regard, that’s faith. God wants to save you from the corruption that is in you and that separates you from Him. All this by His grace, His unmerited favor toward us, because NO ONE deserves God’s love and His mercy. However, He calls you today to be saved. He wants to deliver you from the dominion and slavery of sin of your human nature. God wants to make you reborn, make you a new creature. You must be born again, born of God. You must receive God’s life, how?
Believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As you believe that Jesus is Lord, the only Lord, and confess Him as Lord, if you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, if you believe that Jesus died on that cross to pay in full the debt of your sin; that He, the only good, just and righteous man ever born, man and God, died in your place; if you believe that you are a wretched sinner deserving hell and have nothing at all to offer God for your salvation, that your religion cannot save you, that you are not good but wicked and that only God can save you. God in His mercy and love for you, for us, offered His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Repent of your sinful lifestyle knowing that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and let God make you a new creation in Christ. If you are not born from above, if God does not do this in your life, by faith in Jesus and by His grace only, you cannot be saved. There is nobody and nothing else that can save you, my friend.
This is the work of God you must do. Believe on Him whom He has sent, the Lord Jesus for the remissions of your sins. Only this way you can be justified before God and the guilt of your sin be removed. God does it, do you believe it?
Here is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, believe it and be saved, do not believe it and perish!
Romans 3:19-28 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
Romans 4:24-25 but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness-for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. 25 He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Romans 5:6-11 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Romans 5:17-19 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9-11 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
My friend, now is time to answer that question. Who is Jesus? Why know Jesus? Because, He is your only hope. There is no other, no one can save you from the mortal problem of sin. No one can justify you before God except Him and what He did on the cross and by raising from the dead. There is no other way to God, no other religion will do it. No sacrament will do it, no work of righteousness will do it. Buddha will not do it, Mohammed will not do it, the Pope can’t do it, Mary can’t do it. Your church can’t do it, your denomination can’t do it. Only Jesus can. Yes, He is the only One who can do it. Will He do it in your life? God is calling you today, how will you answer?
John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Acts 4:10-12 that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11 This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’ 12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
In conclusion, I want to say one last thing. I want to conclude with the words of the Savior Himself, for all those who heard the call and are now thinking of receiving Him and following Him.
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Matthew 10:32-39 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. 34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.
John 5:24-30 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25 Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, 27 and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth–those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
